- Joints - Longitudinal and Tangential
The longitudinal and
tangential joint stresses due to internal pressure and external
loads are addressed with respect to their applicable loads.
- Nozzle Loads
The longitudinal and
tangential stresses induced by the nozzles and due to internal
pressure and external loads are addressed with respect to their
applicable loads. A number of different methods are employed here
depending on the size and location of the nozzle. Nozzles located on
the cylinder wall are treated differently than the nozzles located
on a head.
- Supporting Structure
The longitudinal and
tangential stresses induced by attachments and due to internal
pressure and external loads are addressed with respect to their
applicable loads. Attachment and other supports are treated
similarly to nozzles and a number of different methods are employed
here depending on the size and location of the attachment.
- Fatigue Loading
A fatigue analysis of
a vessel is sometimes required by the ASME Code. The criteria for
fatigue analysis is addressed in Section VIII Division 2 for
mechanical loads and in Section III for thermal loads.
- External Loads
All external loads with respect to wind and seismic conditions
can be addressed depending on requirements.
